Scholarship Information

1.  Direct information from the college you want to attend- the majority of scholarship dollars is given out directly by the colleges and universities.
Most general scholarships require the following criteria:
-At least average ACT and GPA
-Community service such as:  Youth Community Council, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, elderly assistance, disaster relief, hinger and homelessness, community improvement.
-Extra Curricular Activities such as an organization on campus, captain of an athletic team, editor of the newspaper or yearbook etc.
-Work Experience: documented work hours related to career goals.

3.  Weber State University-WSU provides a scholarship search service on the Internet for high school seniors and college students.  This service is located in the Student Services Bldg. on campus.  To make arrangements to access this service, call 801-626-6029.

4.  College/ University Departmental Scholarships- Colleges and universities sponsored scholarships in the various academic departments for high achieving students who wish to major in those areas.

5.  Parents can be sources for Scholarships- parents may work for companies that offer scholarships for children and employees.  Check your company's personnel office for information.  Also, parents may belong to organizations to children of members.

6.  Military, ROTC Scholarships- The military can be an excellent source for scholarships.

7.  Leadership scholarships- Those students who have shown excptional leadership abilities i.e. student body president, class president, club president, etc. may qualify at many of Utah's colleges and universities.  Each college has information regarding their leadership scholarships.

8.  School bulletin boards, announcements- Some private and local national scholarship information and applications will be available in the counseling office at the high school.  Check often!
