Graduation Requirements

Utah State Requirements for a High School Diploma:

Before understanding the requirements you must first know what a credit is.
A credit is obtained every term, for each class, as long as that class is passed with a grade of D- or better.
Each passing grade awards the student with one quarter credit (.25).  This means that every full year class is worth one full credit (1.0) and every semester class will yield half of a credit (.5).

The requirements for each course area are as follows:
English   4 credits
Math      3 credits
Science  (Physical, Biological, and Lab Sciences) 3 credits
Social Science (history)  3 credits
Career and Tech. Ed.     1 credit
Computer Technology    .5 credit
Fine Arts    1.5 credits
General Financial Literacy  .5 credit
Health       .5 credit
Physical Education (must have Fit for Life)  1.5 credits
Electives   8.5 credits (these are classes that do not fit a requirement above (foreign language, student government, study skills, teacher assistant).

TOTAL 27 credits

Every class you take (with the exception of seminary) counts for a credit that you will need to graduate!!
If you are struggling or have questions about these requirements please see your guidance counselor.
